Offseason Expectation Thread:
Hey Guys,
I'd love to see a thread opened up (only moderators can edit/post) where things people say in the offseason. Expectations for a certain player, trades, record, etc could be recorded. Perhaps split the thread into multiple posts per category, etc. I think it would be interesting to scroll through at the end of the season and read what people said during the offseason. The down side is this is a ton of work for the Mods. Would be interesting, I think. Just tossing it out there.

Re: Offseason Expectation Thread:
Daseal, I don't quite follow. You want a thread where only moderators can edit and post?

Re: Offseason Expectation Thread:
Well I'm def not a mod but it's too tempting to get into predictions.
Personally I have low expectations for this season even under the best circumstances. Those circumstances are IMO 1) a LT and RT drafted w/ our 1st and 2nd picks, respectively, 2) the best RB/NT drafted in the 4th 3) new FA signings for LB, NT and FS. I think the offense gets noticeably better this year; however, we do not see a major downfield threat emerge. Thomas especially will show flashes, and Kelly will also improve, but we won't have consistent big game performances by any WR, thus the running game will struggle because defenses expect a lot of rushes. Defensively, right now I expect a significant step backward. We lack the personnel to be a dominant 3-4 and it's unlikely we can acquire enough to talent in one off-season. I expect the Hybrid to yield a lot of yards on the ground. I think we'll see teams run all over us this season. Maybe we get to the QB a little more and maybe we create a few more turnovers, but the impact will be marginal. The defense will still rely heavily on Fletcher (a tackling beast) and whoever else plays LB, and nobody on the roster or left in FA is known for creating turnovers. Los probably plays a good share so don't expect many more turnovers in the passing game. Basically Haslett has an idea of what he wants, but he's very, very unlikely to make it a reality. All in all I'd say 5-11 is reasonable. I won't be surprised if Shanny/Allen go looking for another d coordinator after a disappointing season defensively.

Re: Offseason Expectation Thread:
Sounds like a preseason/offseason predictions thread...maybe.
If your getting at holding people accountable for there opinions, I dont really think that will get alot of interest being that we are all pretty rabid fans and being on the forum a year, i dont think anybody is an expert here by any means, just fans wanting/hoping the best for the team. More interested in holding the experts (Allen, Shanny) accountable and giving my opinion on direction of team in the offseason or opinions on players in general. But if you start a thread about offseason predictions for the coming year...ill comment on it...

Re: Offseason Expectation Thread:
This was just a suggestion for a thread, not an invitation for a full blown expectations thread. Daseal I guess what you're suggesting is the mods go through and make a thread that is basically a compilation of people's opinions? Love the idea, just not thrilled about doing that work.

Re: Offseason Expectation Thread:
so a checklist to see if predictions came true?
seems like a lot of work for the mods with little return to the site |
