Redskins vs Bucs Post Game Reaction

Man we needed this one, HTTR.

Good

1. RG3 - We dont win that game without him. Best game as a pro so far imo. His accuracy in the short, medium throws is much better than I anticipated they would be.
2. Alfmo - He just ran over a good run defense. What a beast, to me I couldnt give RG3 the game ball without splitting it with Alfmo.
3. Oline - Really surprised how well they held up against a solid front 7. I thought this was there best game.
4. Run Defense effective again this game. This is really surprising me how we have quietly done a good job the running backs this year.
5. Silverblunt - Cant be called a sissy
6. Coaching staff had the team ready to play. Execution was the problem today, not the coaches. Great game by Kyle.

Bad
1. Billy C*ntdick - probably havent found a long term solution in the kicking game. Just an embarrassment
2. Stupid penalties continue. The Garcon cheap shot and the easy call 15 yard clip were drive stoppers. Dude WTF. This shit needs to end.
3. Niles Paul probably shouldnt have made the team
4. Secondary play continues to stuggle. Josh Wilson has given up some really bad plays the last couple weeks.

Whats your feedback?

Good:

RGIII he won the game, he's on pace for a season with over 4000 passing yards and 1000 rushing yards. The trade was worth every pick.
Morris
Trent Williams
Kerrigan
Bowen
Morgan
Davis

Bad:

Cundiff
Secondary
Garçon dumb penalty
Looking at Haslett on the sidelines

I was one of the few that was against it. It was a lot to give up and not having two number 1's is going to really hurt. But I'm starting to believe that perhaps it was worth it. It still needs to play itself out though. RG3 does things that simply don't show up it the stat sheet, and the stuff that does show up in the stat sheet is impressive.

One other problem i had was our two minute drive at the half. There was no urge to kill and at that point out offense was moving the ball with ease. We could have really taken the wind out of their pirateship sails and prevented the close game. Does anybody else have a problem with that?

We're lucky it took tampa bay until halftime to realize all you have to do to score points against us is to chuck the ball deep to your over-6'3" receivers. Our secondary is still a liability. Love what I'm seeing out of RG3 though; he'll do his part to make up for the holes this team has.

Re: Redskins vs Bucs Post Game Reaction

I thought the Redskins deserved to win the game, so I certainly can't and won't complain about the "how."

The Bucs were just bad today. I didn't think the Redskins played poorly, but it says something that a team could struggle as much as the Bucs did and still erase a 15 point deficit. I do feel like we overcame the head coach (and probably the defensive coaches) again today, although neither was as directly problematic as the kicker was today.

I guess at the end of the day, it came down to a wholly inconsistent team against a team that just didn't play very well at all at home. And though it went down to the wire, the better team won today. It's probably not too early to point out that teams the Redskins have beat this year are 1-7 while teams that have beaten the Redskins are just 5-3.

RG3 was really impressive today. Is there anything this guy can't do?

It's weird. Sometimes I feel like he's struggling in the passing game then I go to the box score and he has 250+ yards with a 70% completion percentage and a 9.0 ypa average. Unable to put up big numbers against the SEC my arse, NFL defenses can't even stop him .

I will say this right now it feels like the Shanny's are just getting him acclimated and not giving him to much right away. It is going to be downright scary when they're able to take the training wheels off and he starts imposing his will in the passing game rather then taking what the defense gives him.

His red zone passing needs to improve in the sense that he needs be able to find receivers in the end zone. Right now we're converting red zone attempts with his running which is great, especially compared to the pre-RG3 era, but it's opening him up to shots we don't want him taking. On the plus side he's not turning the ball over.

I said this before though, RG3 is on track to be the best rookie QB ever in the history of the league and so far 3 first round picks and a second rounder wasn't enough. St. Louis should have asked for more. Maybe a first born or two.

Re: Redskins vs Bucs Post Game Reaction

Offense needs to put up points in the second half. Even with Cundiff taking a dump, we can't be just kicking field goals all the time. It seems that in the past couple of weeks, a lot of teams have come back after being down early. If you take the lead, you gotta continue to put up points and close out games.

Getting the W is nice, but the Bucs are not that good. If we can't make adjustment we are going to get killed by better teams.

Re: Redskins vs Bucs Post Game Reaction

I was posting my response, but someone closed the thread a second before it went through. Anyway, I was saying that RG3 is great at the 2min/no huddle/hurry up offense. Morris has some big runs when RG3 is under center. Shanahan, do more of this and less of option stuff. The option is something we should seldom do. Because at this rate its something thats going to get RG3 killed before game 7. I will say though that we didn't do it that much today.

Cundiff didn't do well today. I know that, but he's still better than what we had. Its one day. If he does this next week though...panic and cut him.

Our defense played well for 3 quarters. Got to be more complete.

Alfred Morris looks like Terrell Davis...where does Shanahan find these guys?!?

We are undefeated in games which Pierre Garcon plays in (and scores a TD in).

How in the hell does 2 guys not in pads get seriously injured..in WARM-UPS?!?! I saw the video and couldn't believe what I saw.

We are still winning and losing games by close margins we can easily be 4-0 as much as we can be 0-4. I'll take 2-2 with a "rookie" QB. (although he isn't really playing like one)

Good

Griff - what else can he do? Wow
Morris - steal of the draft imo.
OLINE - OVERALL a good job and Trent is a monster!! Our 2 nd best player
Play calling - I thought very good balance
Defense - yes I said defense, hall played good and as did RK, overall I liked the fight today .

Bad

Josh Wilson - he was getting burned all day, he's just not very good.
Cundiff - OMG dude
Griff not sliding, man I know he's a gamer but it scares the hell outta me.

Overall our offense is very good and I believe our turnover ratio is a leagues best, correct me if I'm wrong.
This team is getting better, playoffs? I'd say no but 8-8 is very likely.

Also kudos to whoever called the cundiff gw in the gameday thread.

Wilson hasn't looked right since he got a concussion in that Rams game.
