Concerned about Landrys hamstring?

Is anyone concerned about larons hammy?

He has missed virtually all training camp.
He might not play a down in preseason and we still have him listed as a starter?

I'm worried that this might be something that will slow him down the whole year.

Yes, I am. And I know the Redskins are too, though they are denying it.

re: Concerned about Landry's hamstring?

Ive been hoping its going to be like TO's first year in Dallas when he had a seemingly minor hamstring pull that lingered for a long time. Then come regular season he was fine.

I hope thats the case.

I think it's a legit concern that he hasn't been able to do much this preseason. He's a guy that we really can't afford to have out for an extended period of time. I have a feeling we might be seeing alot more of Springs at safety.

re: Concerned about Landry's hamstring?

Yes I'm extremely worried about this.

He's the lynchpin of our defense as his range prevents QBs from targeting certain parts of the field and frees us up schematically. I'm less worried about his ability to reacclimate himself to the game. I'm actually worried that he's more injured than the team is letting on.

How the hell does a little hammy pull take a month to heal? I've had bad ones and I've been back running in two weeks.

I think it comes down to risk vs reward. the Skins are not willing to risk a bigger injury with him now in the preseason for what some extra practice time. The guy can get it done lets just make sure he is ready on 9/4.

That's 2 weeks away now. I think it's time to consider the possibility of him not being ready week 1. I hope that's not the case but you certainly have to wonder at this point.

Perhaps it's worse than they are letting on?

That's my fear. Soft tissue injuries are tricky to diagnose, and that's the biggest reason why teams are extra extra cautious with them.

They give guys weeks and weeks off to recover, just in case the pull/strain is worse than expected (or worse, is actually a tear).

I'm not saying that's what is happening, but I won't feel at ease until I see Dirty Thirty make his debut in our defensive backfield this season.

It's going to be interesting to see if the redskins keep 5 safeties on the opening day roster. Springs is too valuable to use at safety till rogers is completely healed.

By all accounts, Rogers is pretty much healed, but I definitely agree with the sentiment. Until we can be confident that Rogers can cover WRs extremely effectively, we need to keep Springs right where he is.

Rogers needs to show he's completely back in real game situations before I'd consider moving Springs to safety.

I'd rather have inexperience at safety in the form of Horton or Moore than inexperience at CB in the form of Tryon, Torrence, Richardson, or Westbrook.

I was just wondering how weird it is that we are two weeks from opening night, and we are more worried about Landry's hammy than Rogers surgically repaired knee. Yet, here we are.

I hope Rogers is completely healed. We shall see how his knee holds up through an entire half of full pads, full contact play this weekend.

I'm pretty concerned about Laron. I'm sure they're taking every possible precaution, but I honestly don't think he could go if we needed him to. Not at his normal level anyway. Carlos is back over a month early because he's ready and showed it. He's a very important player, yet there isn't any "precautionary" stuff going on with him. IMO if Laron could go, he'd be out there.

With Sean gone and Laron hurt, suddenly we're looking at Doughty, Moore, Horton, and who else at safety? Not good. So roll Springs over to play safety, and then we have Rogers with his largely untested surgically repaired knee and a fairly injury prone Smoot starting for a thin CB position.

Basically what I'm saying is secondary health is crucial this season. Also, Jason Taylor and Andre Carter's health and effectiveness can go a long way towards helping the DBs.

Re: Concerned about Landry's hamstring?

Yes big time. I almost started this thread this morning but didn't have time. At this point the news coming out of Redskins Park isn't encouraging. The fact that he is doing very little at this point is bad news. He can't just heal and turn it on. That risks reinjury. I am extreemly doubtful we get a 100% Landry if at all in the opener. I'd rather he miss the first 3 or four games and be ready totally than to trun this thing into a nagging injury.

I think that he is just saving himself for the regular season.
