I agree, real news is good and I'm glad Samuels decided to restructure.

ahh, the yearly restructure cha cha

1-2 re-structure-him
3-4 re-structure-him

We'd win freaking Dancing with the Stars if we could do this dance for it.

Re: Samuels Agrees to Restructured Deal

So I asked in the (shhh) A.H. thread, but what do you guys think this means? Are we just clearing more space for draft and a few slightly above average FA's or could this, dare I say it, be the signs of a BIG splash? thoughts anyone.

Given the fact that the Redskins are in cap hell again, I would say that this is a typical move and expected.

Cap hell doesn't exist.. For about the 8th straight year of explaining this, cash>cap. Remember all of the past 8-10 offseasons when the sky was falling because of our cap situation? Remember when we were going to have to field nothing but rookies and street free agents? Yeah, that doesn't ever happen because Snyder has a money printing machine and can keep paying big $ in cash and backloading phony money.

The biggest issue isn't our cap each year, it's our lack of a plan.

Ok, here's my understanding:

Cap Hell = Being under the cap (maybe I should have straight out said that the team was under the cap).
Restructuring deals = a quick (not smart) way of getting us under the cap.

Yes, I know we don't plan for the future (etc., etc.) but this is the reality now and that's how they are dealing with it. Besides, the cap will most likely go away and we won't need to deal with this issue.

Well unfortunately if the cap goes away then the NFL will go away for a while because there's no way the owners won't lock the players out in 2011. For as much as some 'hope' for that uncapped scenario, trust me, it'd be the worst thing imaginable as a football fan. Remember the NHL strike that eliminated like a year and a half? Think along those lines.

I think the rumours about AH are having the desired effect. Good to hear something concrete. Good for you Chris.

Re: Samuels Agrees to Restructured Deal

This is great news, sounds like danny wants to reload this offseason, now Taylor has to restructure his deal (hopefully) cut griffin , cut Jansen, and restructure fletcher, and cut springs, that way we can sign d hall haynesworth and Jason brown !! Yes this could work!!!

Well, Jason Taylor is definitely not taking a pay cut, and cutting Jansen would cost us $2M more than it will to keep him.

Then can't we restructure Jansen so he won't hurt us, or possibly include him in a trade with our 1st round pick to the lions for their 2nd first round pick and more picks, plus Jansen is a Michigan guy, he lives there...I just want Jansen gone

Something is brewing at Redskins park.* Regardless of what happens, I can see all the warpathers' minds melting simultaneously.

You read my mind. I fear the results.

I can see it now..."Skins trade 1st round pick to reacquire Mark Brunell!!"

This FO is going to give me an ulcer!
