If you have a first round pick and you need a quarterback, you're going to draft a first round QB, not trade the pick for a 4th round QB.

Not necessarily so. A quarterback's stock can increase no matter what round he was drafted. Those scouts and GMs who have seen film of Cousins play are wishing that they had selected him before he fell to the 4th round. Mind you, Kirk Cousins was projected to be a 2nd round pick. Cousins has outshined the Ryan Tannehills and the Brandon Weedens, QBs who were taken in the 1st round of the draft. Neither of them have been nominated for any awards this season but Cousins has been nominated for 2 awards in back to back weeks and because of that his stock has increased.
Charley Casserly said the other day that right now in this moment in time that Cousins is worth at the very least a 2nd round pick.
