Wanted to see if there was a correlation between a teams penalties and their third down conversions. Probably inconclusive data here as I imagine that it depends on when those penalties were called and what side of the ball they were called on. |
I think the penalties are a big problem and directly add to our third down % being low. We do a whole lot better at third and short. A lot of our drives seem to end when first down is either a penalty or a play gets blown up for a loss. Kyle has cut way back on those odd slow developing plays or the pure speed play to the short side of the field on third and short, although he still tries to be cute sometimes.
RG3 still doesnt read defenses like other veteran QB's do, so third and long, when teams can play strictly pass, is a big struggle for this him. We need to avoid that at all costs.
