I place most of, if not all of the blame on the refs. I'd say that most games have the potential to turn into what today's game turned into, but USUALLY the refs step in and throw a flag early on to calm stuff down. The refs just let the players run all over them for way too long.
The Rams seemed to be thriving in the punk-ass, immature environment in which the game was played, while we were agitated/annoyed/flustered. We could have either shut them up with our play or the refs could have shut them up, neither of which happened.
These refs just seem very intimidated and easily influenced by the players and coaches. They're so unsure of themselves and scared to make controversial, necessary calls.
