Cosell knows his shit
I don't know him well enough to doubt him. His write up is good, but not much different then what everyone here has said. Those who think Flynn sucks like to point to his only two games, and the fact he's only a backup for a reason. Those who like him like to point out he's healthy, has a strong arm, and had one good game.

I love this though

Flynn is a member of a much larger quarterback fraternity, players who need to be coached and managed to maximize the skills they possess. They must be defined and enhanced by the methodology and the concepts of the passing game. That’s the way it works in the NFL for 80-90 percent of its quarterbacks.
To me this is true of all QB's. To me no QB is perfect, it's about maximizing their best qualities and minimizing their faults. Our problem is the Redskins have not seemed to have a decent coaching staff that will do exactly this since Schottenheimer. It has seemed like every HC has expected the QB to fit into their mold of a scheme. Grossman is not mobile and with the OL the way it was he looked bad. Beck the more mobile QB seemed to sit in the pocket more and the roll outs were limited. Now I suspect the lack of roll outs was due to the defense we were playing each week and their ability or possible flexability or speed to be able to counter it which might be why we did utilize it more but if that was the case then they should have stuck with Grossman and found a way to add protection or help out the OL.

But in any event if RGIII is picked up he will have to be managed also. Atleast until he can fix his small issues. Footwork, throwing motion and release, reading defenses, taking the ball from under center, and going through "all" his progressions vs. only staring down his first and then running.
