I think the Browns will have more ammo for him but I'm not fond of tossing a 1st and 2nd rounder this year and a 1st and 3rd next year to get RGIII. We hinder ourselves until the 3rd round.

Right now Weeden is learning our offense. He's practicing very well in it. He can make all the throws we need him to make which means by getting quality weapons around him our team will win games. Because he's already learned some of the system it will be easier to learn the rest plus he will be several steps ahead of RGIII. The team would have to start from scratch in June when the Rookies are allowed to show up vs. Weeden already knowing some of the plays and cough cough possibly already having a play book to learn the rest by June.

Weeden would only need to play 5 yrs giving the team time enough to find a really decent Rookie in the next 2 yrs to start to develope for the future. You see, Weeden buys the team time to get the franchise QB you'd like them to get especially since maybe next year will have more QB's declaring.
28, 29, shit I think a 25 year old rookie quarterback is old. I'll keep a long story short and just say I don't want him. If I take a quarterback with a 1st or 2nd round pick in the draft I expect him to hold down the position for a decade if he proves to be good. Even if Weeden proves to be good nobody knows how long he'll last. He could be done by 35, nobody has any clue.

And LOL at your "he's already learned some of the system." He's had 4 days in the system, and if you think you can judge his future here by 4 days in the system then you are a smarter man than I. I'm not saying I don't like Weeden to play good football for the next 5 years, I think he's capable of doing that. I just don't want to make him a "rookie bridge" for a few years until we find that elite qb we all want. It will take a 2nd round pick to get him, and I think that's too high of a price to pay for a stop gap rental. We could have an impact starter right now with that 2nd round pick we gave up for McNabb two years ago.
