Young or old makes no difference other then to say they are immature. Many a people join the military while young and most don't smoke weed. The ones that do get kicked out. Simple. Your either mature enough to know what not to do in order to keep you lively hood or you don't. Besides there are plenty of other "legal" ways to escape reality.....ie; beer, wine, liquor. There's no need to jeapordize your monitary income. Unless you really don't care about earning a nice living as they are.
