Even though it wasn't that long ago, I think teams have come a long way since Ryan Leaf. He's the perfect example of why teams evaluate players' character, life history & IQ. He had everything, except the ability to deal w/all the pressure of expectations. Who knows, he might still be playing had he been a 2nd rounder.

I see your teams have come a long way and raise you Jamarcus russel. Even with all of the time teams put in, it's difficult to predict how a 21 or 22 year old is going to react to being a millionaire. It's like the stories of how the majority of lottery winners wins up broke. Some of the kids are going to have strong support systems and some, if not most, are going to have people leaching off of them.
