They're almost certainly primed to go deeper into the playoffs than they did last year.

But one of the weird drawbacks to just trying to pick up all the best odds and ends on the free agent market is that the Eagles are almost certainly going to have picked up a couple of lemons who will make a paycheck this year without really contributing. And that's going to lower the overall quality of this team.

Now, that's not a problem for 2012 when the Eagles are loaded, because they can just move on from the players who "didn't fit" - addition by subtraction, if you will. They'll almost certainly be a super bowl contender next year. I'm just not confident they are right now.

They'll probably win a playoff game and end up in the divisional round, but they won't be able to take either the Packers or Saints in a one game set, and certainly won't handle them back to back if they can't manage to get a bye.
