Ponder played in the same west coast offensive system in college that the Vikings use. Ponder fits that system perfectly, there is a small learning curve compared to the other QB's in this draft. Plus the Viking are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and that will help get Ponder on the field sooner than most. If Ponder's play on the field pans out it will be seen as a big win.
The Falcons are stupid to give up that much. But if Jones explodes onto the scene next year and the Falcons go deep into the playoff it might be seen as a win as well.

"Glass half full" for Vikes/Falcons.
We both agree on the cost to take JJ being way too much. I feel the holes on D for ATL are what's keeping them from an elite level, not a complementary WR.
For the Vikes, their window is closed IMO. They're long in the tooth in a lot of spots, particularly at OL/DL. Ponder isn't going to help them now.
