Where's this notion coming from that Nike would release jersey's without the teams permission?

"Vut Mr. Prezident ze team sez their current unis are wonderbar!"

"Forgetz them! Zey must know ze power of the swoosh!!!!!"

Obviously it's in Nike's best interest to have a team wear a particular jersey on gameday to generate sales. I'm pretty sure though that part of the reason the NFL recruited Nike was to start their own line of pro combat jerseys with wacky, out of this world designs. If anything it kind of felt out of place in the more traditional based college game.
