Brown has always had his struggles against the pass, though those appeared to go away when he got paired up with a healthy Brees. McNabb isn't quite the lightning quick trigger man that Brees is (nor is he as clueless in the pocket as Aaron Brooks was), so a lot of his pass protection issues are going to resurface this year.
However, with a move over to the right side, he's not going to be facing the other team's top pass rusher 30 times a game. And he fixes the major weakness in our line, which was that the RT position could have previously been exploited between 5-7 times per game at the choosing of the defensive coaches.
Brown doesn't give us a pair of bookends at tackle that we can rely on for the next 6 to 8 years, but he'll be more than competent in the role we have for him. I generally give players the benefit of the doubt when it comes to conditioning, but it's certainly good information that he's definately in playing shape and will be a contributor from the first day of training camp.
