Obviously I'm guilty of that from my opening post but in all honesty I now feel that the second explanation is probably what happened, especially given Tila's reputation, and if thats the case Merriman should actually be commended. I've had times were I was way to passive when I knew that friends were going to attempt to drive under the influence. In fact last fall there was a guy that I didn't know very well but he was obviously tanked at a party that I was attending. Shortly afterwards he got in his truck, drove over a curve and almost got T-Boned by an oncoming car that promptly honked it's horn. Part of me thought it was kind of funny but at the same time I obviously had a grip on the situation and yet I didn't do anything to stop it.

Maybe he could have gone about it better but if the explanation holds up he actually did a good thing. I mean if there's anyone I'd expect to have problems with alcohol it's Tila Tequila, look at her "last" name.

As far as Big Ben goes, well I guess that Ben has a different reputation then Shawn Merriman. Publicly he's seen as the type of guy, outside of a motorcycle accident and a few drunk pics, thats more of a wholesome family type and it's hard to believe that a guy like him would actually sexually assault someone. The mans idea of rebellion is writing Jesus saves on his cleats during games. I mean I know he's not a saint but he's not exactly a huge party guy either.

Merriman on the other hand has a repuatation for living a fast and furious type lifestyle, I mean for God sakes up to this point he was going steady with Tila Tequila. On top of that his history with steroids pretty much sealed a conclusion in everyones mind that has been posting on ESPN, SI, and PFT. If you look at the comments you can't go far without a poster suggesting roid rage. I'd imagine if Mark McGwire was ever in a similar situation you would see the same line of commentary.
