Here's why: no backup plan. It had to have occurred to someone that the screens might turn out to be too low. An intelligent person, armed with $1.2 billion, would then plan the screens so that they could be moved up, if they proved to be an obstacle.

Yet, armed with $1.2 billion, Jerry had no backup plan other than do-overs.

Putting in screens which work at only one, problematic height is pure stupidity.
Actually, I do understand the part about raising it making it in operable. Heck, you move your dvd player in the wrong place and all the wiring gets shot and you have to redo it. I imagine the wiring to maintain the HD image is incredibly complex, as there are xzillion different screens within it. I would imagine that they could have put incremental stopping points and pipe the wires to each of those, but I think Jerry really wanted this controversy. I also think it is set so that he has the perfect view of it from his perch, and he doesn't want to give that up by the 5-10 feet he would need to raise it. Certainly not the 25 feet U2 wants it raised.

I think more than stupid, it is just arrogant, but hey that is the Cowboy way.
