I like the pick - just comparing him to another SEC talent Robert Ayers I think Jarmon stacks up pretty well:
According to Gil Brandt here is Jarmon's pro day:
Supplemental draft features some players to watch
Jarmon held a Pro Day on July 9 and ran indoors on FieldTurf. He posted a 4.8-second 40-yard dash, had a 31-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot, 9-inch broad jump, a 4.28 short shuttle, a 7.38 three-cone drill and did 19 reps at 225 pounds on the bench press. He looked very good in positional drills.
Now here is Robert Ayers pro day stats:
Robert Ayers | Tennessee, DE : 2009 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile
Combine:
Height: 6031
Weight: 272
40 Yrd Dash: 4.77
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 18
Vertical Jump: 29 1/2
Broad Jump: 08'06"
Pro Day:
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.46
3-Cone Drill: 7.07
They also had similar stats: Jarmon had 3 1/2 sacks, 5 hurries and 10 tackles for loss in 2008, while Ayers had 3 sacks, 5 hurries and 17 tackles for loss. The last stat is the big differentiator, but here is another: Jarmon had 9 sacks, 3 hurries and 16 TFLs in 2007 vs. Ayers' 4 sacks, 3 hurries and 13 TFLs.
So if the Broncos used the 18th pick in the first round on Ayers while the Skins used a third rounder on Jarmon I think we did pretty well...
