Washington: 5-11, No Playoffs, Off. Ranked 11th

2007 – Denver: 7-9; No Playoffs, Def. ranked 19th
Washington: 9-7, one and done in the playoffs, Off. Ranked 13th.

2008 – Denver 7-9, No Playoffs, Def. ranked 29th
Washington 8-8; No Playoffs, Offense ranked 15th

So yes. In Champs second year with Denver they went to the conf. championship. One game further than CP and the Skins the same year. From 2006 on, neither team has been impressive.
As for the Gibbs willing the team to win, I’ll give you that in 2007 – after Taylor’s death Gibbs held the team together and pushed it into the playoffs.

2005 was a very different story. Yes Gibbs pushed and cajoled the victories – but it was Portis’ running that took us from 5-6 to 10-6. Go back and look at the stats (5 games: 573 yds; 6 TD and 1 passing TD) and the quotes from the players. 2005 was as much CP as Gibbs. Bailey has not done anything like that for the Broncos. He’s a great corner, but he has not carried them anywhere.
