I think it is a little easier said than done just to run wide on AH at DE....and that's what our LB(whoever he may be), Landry and Horton are for....chase down them backs outside.
Im sure Blatche is smart enough to devise a scheme to handle that.

We have Andre Carter to play RDE. We need a LDE.
I am higher on Ayers than you are. Although I often disagree with him, Mayock said that when we look back three years from now, what we will see is that Ayers is the best defensive player in this draft. He could (repeat: could) be right.
Horton is not primary run defense, he is run support. Landry will be of little use in your scenario since Blache plays him 30 yards off of the line.
On wide plays you need a reasonably fast DE to either make the play or absorb the blocking so that the LB can make the play. If you have a slow DE, running teams like the Giants will just run around you all day long. And as much as I like AH, he makes for a slow DE.
AH's natural habitat is on the inside. Except on mix-it-up pass rushing downs, I think it would reduce his overall contribution to make him play too much on the outside.
