You assume that "my entire perception" is based on reports from nat'l media. Quite the contrary. I'm a Va. Tech alum & live less than an hour from VT, and a big fan of the football team. When Hall played for VT he had the same reputation, a selfish prima donna that divided the locker room. I heard from several people over the years that know players & coaches well, and their opinion of him is never good, aside from his talent.

Granted, I did not get info first hand, but I trust the people who relayed stories to me. Obviously, 99%+ of the opinions on this site are based on our limited perception of people who live somewhat public lives. If I waited for first hand info on everything, I'd never vote, because I've never met a president!

The last year Hall played at VT in 03, the team went from #3 in the country to losing a bowl game 52-49 & finishing 6-5 (pretty sure but not positive). The next year Hall left & the coaching staff made a point in camp of emphasizing team unity. That year they won the acc w/what most considered a less talented team. Not saying that Hall has to shoulder all the blame, but several people close to the team single him out for negatively affecting the team's chemistry.

The same behavior has continued in the nfl. Yes, I get most of my info. from the nat'l media, but there is a reason a guy w/so much talent at a vital position has been dumped twice (w/one of them being the ever dysfunctional raiders) & he's only 25!!!
I don't get why people keep bringing up Hall's attitude. Have you ever thought he might have matured and realized he can't do the same stuff that got him a bad rep w/ATL? All his "so called" behavior problems came on bad teams ('07 ATL) with a coach who quit on his team in the middle of the season. Are you supposed to be the only reason they cut him in OAK is because he couldn't play man coverage. I'm not saying he's not a risk but I think he's matured and learned from his mistakes.
