Both Carter and Taylor are in their 30s, and having Peppers along with Taylor or Carter would give us some time to develop a young DE (hopefully through the draft).
I still think that we need a better DT, however I think Haynesworth has higher risk of becoming a bust than Peppers; furthermore, there are a few character issues with Haynesworth.

A strong case can be made for both of them, and against both of them. If one of them wins a Super Bowl this year they may be more inclined to go for the big payday now. Peppers may stay if he is franchised of course, which is likely to happen. Though it's going to cost the Panthers a pretty penny to do that. Which may free up Gross to FA. And that's great for us, potentially.
Haynesworth does have potential "complacent free agent bust" written all over him, but he could also be the total stud on the interior that we need. I think Golston is gone this year, Griffin and/or Daniels could be gone as well, and who knows about Evans. So the interior could come down to Montgomery (assuming he stays), and Alexander. Which is ok, but not great.
If it were me though, I don't know that I would sign either.
