Re: Zorn's I'm A Soldier Moment
I don't think this counts as an "I'm A Soldier" moment. In order to make such a remark, the speaker must (1) publicly construct an asinine, egotistical metaphor (2) at an inappropriate time and (3) in a tone that is totally disproportionate to the tone of the interviewer.
It looks like Zorn's statement only meets condition three and thus fails the venerable Winslow Test.
I would say we could call this "pulling a Denny Green," but that would involve storming out of the room immediately after making the statement*. It could be "pulling a John L. Smith," but that would involve some light self-flagellation. Maybe it was "pulling a Mora?"
In my opinion, Zorn didn't do diddly-poo wrong in that interview. We have way bigger fish to fry this week. GO SKINS!
