That's not really any big deal when you think about it.

If he wasn't ready for this job, then I don't think you can make the argument that he was ready for the O.C. position.
I have to respectably disagree with you here. His roll will be significantly different as a HC rather than the OC.

"Head coaches have to worry about so many things that go beyond what Zorn has proven to be good at: teaching and coaching. Head coaches are CEOs as much as anything."

I couldn't say it any better.

Another telling quote: "As one of Zorn's former co-workers put it to me this afternoon: 'The best thing that happened to Jason was having Zorn named offensive coordinator and working with quarterbacks. The worst thing was Zorn being named head coach, because it will be harder for him to be as involved coaching the position.'"

In addition, being ready to be an OC in no way makes you ready to be a HC. They are completely different jobs with very different priorities. An OC can focus on X's and O's and only be concerned with what the Offense is doing. A HC has to be a tactician, coordinating both the offensive and defensive philosophies to work for the benefit as a whole. In addition, the OC and DC are both under the protective umbrella of the HC who can deflect criticism when things go awry as young coordinators learn the craft. No such protection for the HC.

I am hoping the guy is the next great story in the NFL but you can't say there is no significant difference between the OC and the HC, nor can you say that because he was named an OC 2 weeks ago, he was ready to be an HC.
