While your arguments makes some sense, it lacks the point of view of the other side. Not having a union is just as bad. Now, imagine Lloyd being a good apple and plays well. Little later, the Redskins want to get rid of him, so they do not pass the ball to him and say he is not "performing up to his contract." No one can prove that they are not passing to him intentionally. That way they can get rid of older and aging guys for young talent and not have to pay them anything because they will not be "performing up to their contract."

The unions and laws are there for a reason.
