[QUOTE=Longtimefan;316082]Portis has said exactly what I thought when he made the comments he did. He hadn't given much thought to what he was saying, nor had he taken into consideration the sensitivity of the issue. I too am a dog lover, and have been for a long, long time, and find no solace in watching them destroy one another.
His comments seemed quite genuine, and I think he learned a lesson from that experience, and that's what's important. There's no way we can downplay the love many of us have for our pets, (dogs in particular) a love that has a long and storied history since the civilization of mankind.

Not only did he not take into consideration the sensitivity of the issue, he said he had no idea people loved animals so much. What planet has this guy been living on his whole life?
He couldnt take the issue's sensitivity into consideration because he didnt know it was an issue. I still think he is sincere in his apology but boy is he dense.
