Yea, I was the one who broke the story. Read the beginning of the thread. That was a proposed deal after GM told me that, "The JETS have been trying to do everything to get Betts..."
However, that fact only leads to the value of Betts on the free agent/trade block. We could use that value to get better at position in which we are thin(e.g. Corner, Linebacker, or common sense).
I think its a good look. Fans arent too attached to him yet, and his value is high after 1,000 yards this season. We need help now. I cant see the same faces. The same faces that remind us that they are the result of bungled free afency pratices, can not be on our team next season.
We need fresh faces from the draft that will mature into "cornerstone" players for us in the future. If not for that, then for the fact that we only have
1 pick in the first
3 rounds of the draft. Then none until the
5th!!
