Williams must go, and Saunders must go. I fully blame last year on the coaches, and I don't think the world of Gibbs for allowing this to happen. It’s ridiculous to have the safeties coach and the corners coach not speak to each other all season.

It would be interesting to see Taylor play while being coached in a real system (Lovie Smith) while not having to worry about a complex scheme that evidently doesn’t work anymore. I was never impressed by Williams' defense anyway, it was always vulnerable to big plays...his scheme reminds me of him; Arrogant. Players are so busy worried about "the scheme" that they've forgotten how to play football...i.e. Carlos Rogers. His defenses have always been around the leagues worst in the turnover category, even when he was with Buffalo.

It is clear that he holds back players, look at Walt Harris. Sean may have already been ruined and if he plans on having a career that’s half as good as his potential he should request a trade. I’m under the impression that Springs was the one who was quoted in the Tom Friend article and I agreed with everything that he was saying. He is smart enough to not take another season of this and I remember him joking at the end of last year as if it was his last on the team.

Every season we have one of the better teams in the league when it comes to talent, maybe what’s been holding this talent back is the coaching. It’s ridiculous when someone outside of the organization (Tiki Barber) is concerned about us not playing as a team, the coaches aren’t getting the players on the same page and I can see why after reading that article.

Expect another year of career lows for our playmakers unless Gibbs puts his foot down.
You aren't the first one I heard put a lot of the onus on the coaching staff, but you are one of the few and dead on at that. I stand in total agreement with you.

We all know that ulitmately, the players line up between the white lines and have to tackle, intercept, and pursue. But I've come to the conclusion that this staff, particularly on defense, does not put it's players in the best position to make plays and excel. People are quick to point out Gregg Williams' defense in Buffalo, and really his first season here was his best. His second and third season the defense didn't put the clamps down until later in the season, especially last year. They have a penchant for giving up big plays, rarely get any type of pressure on the quarterback, and aren't known for coming up with turnovers.

Many thought that Antonio Pierce's success was because the 'system' made him, well think again. Ditto Walt Harris and Omar Stoutmire (sp), and if we think LaVar Arrington is done, well, let's just say I wouldn't bank on that either.

I agee, we have too much talent on the defensive side of the ball, to rank at the bottom of the NFL.
