Still Don Shula never stepped down from being a headcoach only to come back and win with another team. In 1969 Shula was the headcoach for the Baltimore Colts, in 1970 Shula was the headcoach for the Dolphins.
Levy did take sometime away from being a headcoach between KC and Buffalo, and like you said he didnt win anything, 0-4 in the big game.
In Beemnseven's example the coaches he mentioned plus Vermil were headcoaches at one time then stepped down only to come back as a headcoach and then win the whole thing. Shula, Dungy, and Gruden never quit being a headcoach once they got that far. They may have won with a different team than where they started out at, but they moved laterally in the careers, not backwards.
