I thought taking Kiwanuka was a brilliant pick. The way defensive ends can flame out on an instant is all the more reason to take him. Sooner or later, Strahan will start showing his age. If you're set pretty much everywhere else, and the Giants are for the most part, then you've got to take the best player you believe is available.

Now, let's apply that philosophy to offensive tackle: Assuming we were set at linebacker, and according to Gibbs, that was the one area where we were a little "thin", Winston Justice would have been a perfect pick for us -- assuming we still made the trade to move up to #35. Samuels and Jansen are the bookend tackles who we can depend on to anchor our line for more seasons to come. But having a highly rated backup who can learn the system, perhaps play some at guard when he's needed, and be there when one of them gets injured can be a vital aspect to any team. The same is true for the Giants at defensive end, or any other team at any position.
