When receiver D.K. Metcalf was traded to the Steelers, he received a new contract. The five-year, $150 million deal replaces the final year of his prior contract, at $18 million.
The new-money average, then, is $33 million per year.

This is a huge reason why it is doubtful that the Terry extension gets done. Steelers basically overpaid for Metcalf. Terry believes, as do many, that he is the superior wr and wants to be compensated as such. Not going to happen with his age. Firmly believe Peters will work with Terry some on the numbers but not to his total demands.
