Rodgers was playing behind a hall of famer and Brady got his first start because Bledsoe got injured. Regardless why they sat, it helped their development. Back in the day rookie QBs always sat for a year or two.
I willing to bet many prospects over the years could have flourished much better if they had the luxury of sitting and easing into the role.
