I like Rick Santorum.
But I don't understand why he made this comment. It's not necessarily racist, he didn't say Native Americans deserved to die. But at best, it's just fucking stupid.
I would say ignorant, but he's 62 and well aware of our country's history. So this comment isn't out of not knowing.
What would make anyone say something like that? You can love our country, while admitting our flaws, and honestly discussing our history. Not mutually exclusive.
Note - You can like people and not agree with all of their opinions. Also not mutually exclusive. Face to face, this is easier to know it's true. Little trickier online, because voice inflection and context are extremely important.
