Re: Stafford in WFT Plans? He’s Available
I am against the costly acquisition of a QB via trade and I'll tell you exactly why. Building a team is a process that takes some time and the idea that we are "close" to being a contender because we got into the playoffs with a losing record in an abysmal division in the most abnormal NFL season ever is total bullshit. We need to build a team that can compete for a Super Bowl appearance year after year. This is not that team. We need every draft pick we can get and some key free agents before we can approach that level. And Heaven knows we can't be throwing away special young players like Montez Sweat in a deal for a QB who's not going to get us over the top. Tampa Bay didn't go after Brady until they had a strong team in place around him. That is the way to do it.
Now, how did we get this point? First, we got lucky and made the playoffs. At that point, I think RR started to overrate his team. Then, the evil genius Dan Snyder started to work on him. You see, it is time for Snyder to awaken from his slumber and prepare to personally select the next starting QB for his franchise. Nobody needs to agree with his selection because he will order it to be done. This may be the single most satisfying use of his power as team owner. What a boner he's going to get when he does it again! I think it's a major reason why he wanted to own the team.
The "we're close" mantra is way too familiar to me. We have heard that many times throughout Snyder's ownership. Maybe it's because Snyder asks the executives he hires "Are we close yet?" on a daily basis. You see, he just doesn't have the patience for a team build. That's because he's also a dumb shit fan like us. And now we're all excited about making the playoffs and we're ready to fall for Snyder's same old ignorant "we're close" bullshit until he personally selects his next disastrous man-crush QB.
