With way the Cowboys have structured the five-year, $100 million deal with Amari Cooper, they can be out of salary-cap issues after just two seasons. The first two years of the deal are fully guaranteed at $40 million. If the Cowboys want to move on after 2021, $6 million would hit the cap on signing bonus proration and they would save $16 million in cap room. Cooper should have spread the guaranteed money around vs front loading.

Why would a player even want guaranteed money up front, the team isnt going to cut you a year or 2 into the deal so that salary money is basically already guaranteed. Id want my guaranteed money on the back end when a team would consider cutting me.

Scenario A - he gets cut after 2 years, gets 46M total

Scenario B (guaranteed money is spread 10M over first 4 yrs) - he gets cut after 2 years, he gets 66M.
