It is called contract negotiating and the typical "sabre rattling". It puts the onus on the other side to cough up his demands or hints at him leaving. I wouldn't be worried, but to be honest, I still am not sure if he is worth $25 million a year. Yeah his stat line was great, but he folds under pressure and is behind one of the better offensive lines in football. Is he really top ten because of this? IF we made the playoffs and just lost to the Seahawks again, this banter about Kirk would be moot, as that would have meant he shined all the way through, but he flopped during the back stretch somewhat, while the D let everyone down. I think they just need to give him a real long term deal with the cap per year at say $24-$25 million and be done with it. Let the chips fall where they may be. I don't see very many quality qbs coming out of college anymore and if you snag one, keep him. Kirk is a quality QB, but I do understand what some folks are thinking about second guessing the slam dunk resign position. I guess the question is, does he still have room to improve? In that I mean can he grow some poise to handle pressure when it comes his way?
