I never really liked her but RIP. |
Re: RIP Joan Rivers
I wasn't her biggest fan either but I enjoyed watching the roast of her on CC, she was very gracious about everything and looked like she was having fun. I remember they mentioned about how she was very groundbreaking in her heydey.
RIP Joan Rivers. |
Re: RIP Joan Rivers
Back in the day, she was one of the first raunchy women stand-ups and, at one point, was the heir-apparent to Johnny Carson for the Late Show. She fell out of favor for some reason I forget and pretty much disappeared. She then sort of reinvented herself as a caricature of her prior career and been playing off of it for the last 10 years or so.
In her hey day she did have her moments of "Holy Crap! that was damn funny!" She has been pretty much a shadow of that at the end of her career. RIP |

Yup , If I remember right Carson got pissed at her for getting her own show and going up against him . |
Re: RIP Joan Rivers
Always a great guest on Howard Stern.

Agreed with this. |
Re: RIP Joan Rivers
I don't think enough people realize the depth of her career in comedy. Someone I work with was like what's the big deal, she just does red carpet stuff. Um, ok.

She had her day, and I thought even the good old days were pretty bad, but the fact that she did almost nothing but the red carpet in her later years is a testament to just how tired of her people grew. Talk about someone I could care less about being alive or dead. |
Re: RIP Joan Rivers
Joan was cool.

She was doing a lot more than just red carpet stuff right up until the end, but don't let that get in the way of a good hate parade. She was only one of the most influential female comics. But I get that her style wasn't for everyone. |

RIP
Apparently she got a break as an"alternate" stand bye gig with Johnny Carson show. One of the comics was bombing and she got her shot. .....She killed and the rest is... love this clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAD-ky3TYQk Not my favorite, but she had her moments. And like MK has said, she opened the door for many female comedians who would come after. RIP Joan.... |
