Graham gets the boot (pun intended).
ASHBURN, Va. -- The duel between the kicking Grahams lasted all of one preseason game.
The Washington Redskins on Sunday cut Shayne Graham, leaving incumbent Graham Gano as lone remaining kicker at training camp. Graham is the third most accurate kicker in NFL history, but he shanked a 29-yard field goal attempt and also missed a 49-yarder in Friday's win over Pittsburgh. He had also struggled in practice leading up to the game. Gano ranked last in the NFL in field goal accuracy last year, but he was 3 for 3 against the Steelers. With three preseason games remaining, the Redskins have plenty of time to bring in another challenger to Gano. |

However, this weekend he was less accurate than my grandpa's old .22 |
Re: Graham gets the boot (pun intended).
I kinda expected him to stay in camp a little longer as a camp leg. No big surprise he was cut though.

Re: Graham gets the boot (pun intended).
Hope they bring someone else in to compete, competition is a good thing.

Re: Graham gets the boot (pun intended).
He didn't just miss, he missed badly, especially on the first one.
That Graham was not all that he was crackered up to be. |

Shanny said they'd like to bring someone else in, but right now there really isn't anyone out there. I bet the Shiek can still kick!

Plus, it will give him an opportunity to catch on with another team. Kickers get around. |

I think its a bit too early based on his track record. But perhaps he is consistently screwing up in practice too.

Re: Graham gets the boot (pun intended).
He wasn't having a good camp.

Re: Graham gets the boot (pun intended).
6 of one...blah blah. Neither is an elite kicker so it doesn't matter. They're the same thing really.

Re: Graham gets the boot (pun intended).
Gano has a strong leg, really hope he's our man for 10 years or so. This team can win if he's really accurate & we get some return TDs this year.

That is a hell of an indictment of the Redskins' offense this year. The team is going to win on field goals and return TDs? You better hope that "The Shanahans" don't come over and egg your house tonight... |
