Washington QB Club
This group is about to have its annual banquet./luncheon/gala affair/whatever. They give an award to the Most Outstanding Redskin every year.
Pretend the award was to be given now. Who is the Most Outstanding Redskin for 2004? Here are my candidates: Griffin Washington Smoot Springs My vote would be Griffin but you could talk me into any of the other three. |
hard to decide on one person...Griffin, Smoot, Pierce, and maybe Springs. Lets not forget about Portis he's done an overall good job this year as well...
|
Springs, he was suppose to be a down grade from Baily and injury prone. I have not missed Baily all year and he may have even played better than Baily.
|
I don't know about playing better than Bailey but I haven't missed him either this year..I would rather take a whole D playing as well as we have than to settle for one superstar....
|
For me, it's a tossup between Smoot and Griffin.
|
To me it's easily Griffin at this point.
He's impacted the line the same way Gardener did a few years ago, except without the baggage. He was a great pickup. |
Close between Giffin and Smoot. Who won the award last season??
|
While everyone mentioned is deserving there is no one more deserving IMO than Pierce. I say Pierce because he is practically running the defense. You can see how active the guy in on TV. He is always next to the refs and pushing people to their positions.
Borrow is gone next year for sure unless he signs for the minimum. |
If coaches are included I'd vote for Williams, with our offense being one of the worst it's amazing to see our defense ( with a lot of no names, has beens, the rookie #36, second & third stringers and the players who were question marks at the begining of the season ) all producing. But to me the player who deserves the award has to be Smooooooot. I think you have to consider how long he's been here. At the begining of the season nobody could've predicted that our secondary would improve with the loss of "argueably" the best corner in the NFL. I think with his improved tackling he's becoming a solid corner, maybe even a pro-bowler. He's also shown alot of heart & gut's, playing injured in a few games. I hope he becomes another #28 and has a long and productive career with us. I know Griffin has had the most impact on defense and I would vote for him if it wasn't his first season here.

Griffin!
|
Someone asked who won last year. I believe Arrington won last year.
Coaches are not eligible under the current rules. Maybe under previous rules they were eligible and maybe the "committee" can decide to change the rules, but I am told that it has to be a player on the current roster who is the recipient of the award. |
Griffin hands down. I would rank the 4 names:
1 Griffin 2 Smoot 3 Washington 4 Springs All 4 have had great years. |
no love for Tom Tupa??
Seriously though, I'd give a slight edge to Griffin but if he keeps missing games that could change |
smootsmack:
Tupa has gotten a lot more playing time than any of us here would have wished for! So he gets no love... Obviously, if Griffin is hurt for the rest of the season, the calculation has to change. That's why I asked who you would vote for NOW. |
[QUOTE=smootsmack]no love for Tom Tupa??
