Re: Chase has been released
Good move hope he makes it back to the PS. Now we can keep 5 RB's or 10 OL men or 9 DL men you know what i'm saying. ARE can be our 3rd QB.

Re: Chase has been released
Many teams carry only two Qb's. And Chase likely will be on the PS so he won't be far away in case of emergency.

Re: Chase has been released
Why risk it though? I mean odds are he will clear waivers, but what if someone does pick him up?

Re: Chase has been released
He would not have played this year barring a complete melt down. I imagine they wanted to keep more depth somewhere else and are confident in JC and TC

And I have no problem with that whatsoever. Damn I'm getting psyched! I wish we played tomorrow! |
Re: Chase has been released
I doubt Chase gets picked up. No one else wanted him at draft time. And, while he had some high points this preseason, he also had some low points. Further, as has been indicated, there's plenty of fresh meat in the qb market right now.

Re: Chase has been released
The giants just put QB Rhett Bomar on waivers. He was their 5th round pick, the giants will also just keep 2 QB's.
If another team needs a QB that bad, they will probably go for the one that actually got drafted. Chase will not get picked off our P.S. Smart move by the skins, we need that extra roster spot. |
Re: Chase has been released
thats the way to go gives us one more o line guy we need the depth there.defensive line looks the best in years with daniels griffin haynsworth and carter thats why they moved rak to lb this is the best defence we have had in forever i cant wait till next week

Re: Chase has been released
I thought Chase had the potential to be a long term project because he showed two fundamental things -- a quick release, and superior mobility. With more experience, and a better knowledge of the offense, he could be a possibility down the line.
But right now, there's just not enough room on the roster for him, and we had more pressing elsewhere. Mark me down as one that hopes nobody else bites on him. If Colt showed enough last year to get a second chance, then Chase definitely deserves the same. |
Re: Chase has been released
There's a reason Chase wasnt drafted, he just didnt have the size (he is less than 6ft tall) and the arm strength to make it in the NFL. He was worth signing as a UFA to make sure something wasnt being missed.

Re: Chase has been released
Well, I was wrong, Chase is now a Saint.
|
Re: Chase has been released
Yep. So much for that. Sean Peyton saw something there I guess.
|
Re: Chase has been released
Well Drew Brees isn't that much bigger than Chase. Perhaps Peyton figured if Brees could make it big, Chase deserves a shot.

Re: Chase has been released
JLC has the skinny.....yea right. Damn I'm glad that guy is gone. To bad he couldn't have landed a job with the NHL or anything else besides football!
Redskins lose trio of players to other teams Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 6, 2009 6:12 PM ET Chase Daniel didn't make the Redskins roster, but he may have landed somewhere better for his career potential. The Saints signed Daniel Sunday to their practice squad, according NFL's Jason La Canfora. With Joey Harrington off the roster, Daniel will learn at the feet of three outstanding quarterback teachers: Saints coach Sean Payton, Drew Brees, and Mark Brunell. Reports surfaced yesterday Daniel wouldn't be back with Washington, but La Canfora says that wasn't their choice. Redskins coach reportedly Jim Zorn told Daniel he wanted him. La Canfora also points out that the Redskins were hoping to sign linebacker Cody Glenn to their practice squad, but the Colts claimed him on waivers. The Eagles also claimed Redskins defensive tackle Antonio Dixon off waivers. Maybe Washington's depth wasn't so bad after all. While we're at it, let's roll out the rest of the Saints practice squad that will be joining Daniel: wide receiver Adrian Arrington, guard Tim Duckworth, cornerback Danny Gorrer, running back P.J. Hill, tackle Jermey Parnell, defensive DeMorio Pressley, and wide receiver Matt Simon. To make room for Glenn, the Colts waived safety Matt Giordano. And here goes Indy's eight man practice squad: tight end Colin Cloherty, wide receivers Sam Giguere, John Matthews and Taj Smith, defensive lineman John Gill, running back Mike Hart and guard Jaimie Thomas. |
