Parking Lot Posts Should Count in the Offseason
I think that Parking Lot Post should count in the off season. Mainly because during the off season the parking lot usually real heats up with some good threads and folks should be reward for participating in those threads.
Now if folks start using it as IM (EQ and Angry) then that is a separate issue. Just my two cents. |

Re: Parking Lot Post Should Count in the Offseason
A person's value to this board should not be measured by number of posts. If someone wants to be "rewarded" then write strong, well-reasoned posts and you'll probably get positive rep points. And even if you don't, I think we all know who the valuable members of this board are.
But I understand your frustration. You're thinking someone might see you with just a few hundred posts and wonder why they should listen to you, you n00b. But I'm telling you that you needn't worry so much about what others think....just what I think :) Seriously though, quality not quantity. I don't mind posts counting, but don't think it's a must. |
Re: Parking Lot Post Should Count in the Offseason
Dont worry about post count, personally I rarely read the names of posters unless I find the post unusually good/bad.
I've said "What a great post" looked over and saw it was posted by Daseal. |

Re: Parking Lot Post Should Count in the Offseason
To me and I have said this before the count number doesn't mean much to me but some find it important. I just didn't want people avoiding the parking lot because they are not accumulating post counts.
Basically EQ's sig got me thinking. |
Re: Parking Lot Post Should Count in the Offseason
Parking Lot posts should count. Everytime I see a brilliant post by someone in here, it irritates me that they don't get credit for it. I personally don't care about the rep system. There are people on here who don't deserve the positive rep they've accumulated. If the rep system is now the benchmark we're using to place value on members, then we should get rid of post counts altogether.
Knowing that every nonsensical post made in the locker room counts, while informative and well thought out posts made by Joe Redskin, SGG and others in the parking lot doesn't, just seems unfair to me. |
Re: Parking Lot Post Should Count in the Offseason
Fair points. On the other hand, when you say "not getting credit for it" you're saying that number of posts equals more credit. And the idea is not to equate more posts with better posters. I mean you have "only" 1,200 posts. But anyone who's been here long enough knows that you're as valuable (if not more so) than many members with more posts.
But like I said, I won't be upset if we bring them back. I'd be that much closer to 30,000 posts. Just wait for that thread! :) |
Re: Parking Lot Post Should Count in the Offseason
Also, even though we're discussing the Parking Lot we're really discussing an overall board management issue. Therefore, I'm moving this to the Playbook forum.

if Matty would have done this earlier( not counting the posts) Quake would be stuck around 150, or so:)

Great post. If it's not about "credit" then why bother keeping post counts at all? Why do you "get credit" for any post, parking lot or not? A post is a post. If the rep system is the benchmark to place value on members, then it should be deleted. It's a joke. |
