What's worse? Dogfighting or NBA game fixing?
NBA ref Tim Donaghy is being investigated of gambling on NBA games, including those he refereed which brings up a huge question of him fixing games.. ESPN - FBI probes allegations that NBA ref bet on games - NBA
What's worse, the Vick-dogfighting scandal or if Donaghy was affecting the outcomes of games due to his gambling? |
Re: What's worse? Dogfighting or NBA game fixing?
From a sports standpoint, it should be fixing NBA games. That's messing with the integrity of the game, whereas what Vick did (allegedly) makes him a bad person. This is the kind of argument that can be very easily applied to baseball. You look at Mark McGwire and Canseco and Rose who are not in the Hall and may not even go because they messed with the integrity of the game. Meanwhile, had they been crack addicts, they would be in. Dogfighting is worse than drug abuse and IS worse than fixing games, but it doesn't affect the outcome of a game.

Re: What's worse? Dogfighting or NBA game fixing?
morally its definitely dog fighting. However the impact on the game is definitely going to be seen more by the fixing of the games. That is going to be remembered forever. If this turns out as big as it looks like we'll definitely remember this as a big incident in the NBA 10,15,20 years from now. Vick will be forgotten and only remembered as a waisted talent if he is convicted and sentenced.

I would say dog fighting. Who cares about the NBA. Too many damn games anyway.

What do you mean by "worse?" Talk about trying to compare apples and oranges. This is truly a worthless thread.

Re: What's worse? Dogfighting or NBA game fixing?
NBA game fixing, if both are true. This ref story has the potential to blow the lid off not only the NBA, but every pro sports league. You add in the potential mob connection, and its a lot more messy than Vick. It won't get the attention that the Vick story gets, but only because while the ref is just a big a moron as Vick, he is not as big a celebrity as Vick.

Re: What's worse? Dogfighting or NBA game fixing?
What about fixing dogfights?
Thats gotta be really bad. |
Re: What's worse? Dogfighting or NBA game fixing?
Not even close, one is intentional cruelty to a living thing the other is just helping someone win a bet. They do not even belong in the same sentence.
