Why are the Skins TE shopping??

Between Cooley and Yoder (and the use of Sellers), do we really need another TE?? I think if we bring in someone else that it will only ruffle more ego feathers!

Yoder hasn't signed yet & who knows if they would keep him if they got someone else in f. agency.
definitely need a pass catching backup in Saunders offense. Not saying we need to break the bank on one though.

And technically Sellers is fullback. But I get what you're saying.

Cooley will still be the primary pass catching TE. Gibbs is looking for someone to fill the role of the recently cut Christian Faurier. Perhaps we could draft another Don Warren type with a 2nd day draft choice.

Re: Why are the Skins TE shopping??

Last year, espicially in the early season, Cooley was being held in for pass pro. He did a solid job, but it forced our second best option out of the passing game and basically gave Brunell the choices of Moss or "somebody else". Basically we were minimizing our offensive potential.

In the middle of the season, we tried playing Fauria more in that role. Problem was that he couldn't block, and would often hold. Consequently, Brunell got injured.

So the moral of the story is that we DO need somebody to fill the role of a blocking TE for us. I would advocate either a move for a talented player like a Daniel Graham (which isn't going to happen) or a cheaper blocker such as a Reggie Kelly, a Jason Dunn, or a late round draft pick (Or both a vet AND a late round draft pick). But don't kid yourself, if you watched Fauria last year, you know that this is a hole on this team.

Yoder can have a roster spot, but he was the band aid for the Fauria issue, not the solution to the problem.

Graham on the other hand has ideal size and blocking skills.

Good post. We don't need another Cooley clone, we need a road-grader for power-running downs.

Football is a situational game. There are situations when having two pass catching TEs does you very little good. You need a TE on the roster that can line up and just mash an LB or even a DE in a run blocking situation.

Our goalline offense still isn't where I'd like it to be. If you're truly smashmouth, you line up when everyone and their grandmother knows you're going to run, and you run it anyway. And if you're truly smashmouth, you make the yardage. We need a bulldozer at TE.

Like running 70 chip when everyone knows its coming? I agree with you wholeheartedly.
