ESPN reports Portis may not play.

[U]ESPN.com - NFL - Portis misses practice, status for opener still uncertain

I think they're playing possum NE style. Updates on a few injuries in this article.

Re: ESPN reports Portis may not play.

Gibbs said today that if CP can't go, Betts will be ready. And that both Cartwright and Duckett will see action. I also think that CP plays if CP wants to.
Betts will be ready to carry the load if hes needed to do so.

I'm really worried that Portis may be worse than they're telling us. Hopefully he's better than we know, but not looking good!

Re: ESPN reports Portis may not play.

Gibbs knows the importance of beating the cowboys in week 2....and what we can get by with week 1.
But i'm sure it's just possum.
They better be sure of 1 thing.....Portis better be DAMN ready!!! That kinda injury can linger.

I'm suprised this was made a thread. How many times do we have to discuss the same ol f*** shit. Like this thread even brings anything new, nothing has changed.

Enough of the the maybe's. The dude is hurt. We are 6 days away, forget about any reports already. Who is really expecting him to play week 1????? This shit is starting to piss me off.

nothing personal seal but I never want to hear those words again, that concern has been echoed by everyone since Duckett came. At the very worst he is ready by week 3. Everyone should prepare to lose more in the beginning anyway, saunders' first six games in KC didn't go so well. What will be surprising to everyone but us is how well we pull through in that difficult part of the season...or we could go undefeated WHO KNOWS? keep the faith, everything will come together, best coaching staff ever assembled. HAIL!

ESPN said the decision to play or not is up to Mr. Portis.

Relax dude. Some of us don't live on this message board.
STP was just trying to give an update on other injuries as well.

Cooley is doing an interview on DC101 right now and he just said that he thinks Portis wont play on Monday and that Betts has been preparing to start. Obviously that's not offical or anything, but kind of interesting.

Re: ESPN reports Portis may not play.

They'll probably put the interview on their website later on today. There wasn't really much to it, but they did say that this will be a weekly interview after games. The website is eitm online :: HOMEpage :: Elliot In The Morning

the redskin brain trust has the rest of the week to make a decision...before we all start rumors lets wait til there is an offical decision made. someone else said something about knowing the importance of beating the cowboys. I would rather see a healthy portis against the cowboys than almost healthy portis against the vikes.

What I'm saying, Dmek, is that football front offices don't exactly tell you the truth about players. I think Portis may be worse off than we are told. That's the only reason I can see for us picking up Duckett. I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if we went up to 4 games without Portis.

A team cannot lie about what an injury is. Yes they hem and haw. And yes they smudge the truth but they cannot say he has X injury when he actually has Y. It was reported that he had a subluxation of the shoulder. Many people did research and even some experts weighed and said it was not a serious injury as long as they rested it and gave him time to heal. As I mentioned in another thread he can lift heavy objects over his head repeatedly. The shoulder is ok. Maybe he doesn't play this week as a precaution but this low hum of "he wont play for weeks" that has been hanging around here is simply wrong.
