Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
Where were all these folks 2 months ago wearing Burgundy and Gold? I knew fairweather fans would come out of the closet after a few wins but geez-0-flip!
You see folks with sweatshirts with 2 year old fold marks pressed into them, oldtimers with fricking dust still on their hats and young kids that would not know a Riggo from an Eggo all wearing brand new leather skins gear. hahaha! I won't bust on them because even in their silly way they help the team with money they spend or the fun of winning. I swear the guy at the Wawa [gas station] was wearing a cowboy hat a few weeks ago but he denied it to my face. And yes I DID ask his sorry tail too and know he is ly'n. lol See these types of folks around you? I guess I live within 20 miles of DC so this is all home town stuff to me and I forget many of you my warpath brothers are Redskins logistically challenged. If someone could get a picture from space of this region it would have a nice BURGUNDY tint to it. Go Skins and fairweather fans too! peace EDIT/ No Cats were harmed in the making of this comment or thread |
Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
Its hard to tell. I think alot of the older fans (like my father) had lost interest in watching the games and seeing how far they had falling. They lost their old coach and the only owners they had ever known. With Gibbs back in town I know my father and mother started watching the games last year but they did not go out of their way to watch them. Now that they have had something to cheer for ths year they both have a renewed interest in watching. My father had season tickets back in the 60's and has always been a fan but just a silent observer until lately.

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I went to a sports bar last night to watch the game, and stopped at the grocery store on the way. Between the two places I saw at least fifteen jerseys, hats and sweatshirts.
It's odd. A few months ago, people mocked my love of the Redskins. |
Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
im even finding them all over the place down here in st. pete, fl. i have sknsfn personalized plates and people are all over me when i drive down the street. i usually just get confused seminoles fans when i'm sportin' my colors. for the record, raymond james was packed with skins fans in november, and will be again in two weeks after we smoke philly.

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I went to the mall yesterday and I swear I saw almost everyone wearing either a jersey, hat, or jacket. I think its pretty funny actually.

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I really get down on fairweather fans when they support other teams - e.g. the Eagles - but seem to think its okay when its the Skins; my attitude is generally the more the merrier.
All of us have documented published proof of our true fandom however, so we should all be proud of that. |
Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
All I see here is that stupid star. There is a store in the mall near my house that sells nothin but cowpie gear.No matter,This mofo rolls in his burgandy van with the redskins bumper sticker and wears his gear right in their cowgirl faces.HAIL TO THE REDSKINS! Looking forward to the team rolling into town next year and squashing the Texans.

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I still go to high school and I got friends that weren't fans last year and now are. It is disgusting.
One of my friends was giving a cowboy fan the business after we won and was just talking endlessly. I couldn't handle listening to this person talking about how good the skins were because he wasn't a fan the year before and i did something i never do-stick up for a dallas fan-. I told him not to talk because he wasn't ever a fan until we started winning and atleast the dallas fan was a fan last year when they were 6-10. I can't stand all these fair weather whores. I know so many people that can't name half the players on the team but still think they are fans because they wear their stupid jerseys |

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
The fairweather fans may be bad, but they are good for the Redskins even if they think the Ade is a hotty. But what's worse than them are the media, who have jumped on the bandwagon after leaving us for dead after the Raiders game. Sean Salisberry, Berman, SI thugs, and others still don't give our defense or Brunell credit while kissing our tails. They are the worst bunch of fairweather fans out there.

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
who cares? the more the merrier; the only thing that matters is that the ones who were there all along know it and that the team feels the love from eryone who shows up. ( besides, we all know how much easier it is to be a fan of a winner)

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I think the fairweather fans are only good for the money the give the team, otherwise I hate them. Only true Redskins fans know why. When you see the same people that give you shit for liking the Redskins every weekend, now suddenly support the Redskins and act like fans. It pisses me off like crazy. I was born in 87, but did not watch the Redskins until 97. I have been a skins fan for the last 8 yrs of my life, and the majority of what I saw is losing. But I stuck with my team, and I am damn proud, now that we are winning is even more sweeter because I stayed with the the team I loved. I feel that these people that embrace the team wont be there for the ups and downs. Us true Skins fans are a huge family, and no matter how the Skins are doing, we all will be rooting for the same team. That is the beauty of it, the true love that we have for our team, that these posers will never have. I just do not feel like they are a part of this family. The more people that support the Skins the better, but not all are REAL fans.

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
Since Gibbs is back my parents who are 60 got the NFL direct tv package to make sure they don't miss any more Redskins games since they've moved outta the area. I think the influx is Gibbs fans coming back and ofcourse the non brained bandwagon populi. I don't mind as long as we keep winning. But us diehards know who we are. I sat at Fed Ex at a Monday night game vs Dallas when Danny passed out Deion doorags. We lost. I had to watch it live! And then there's Arrington knocking out Aikman, but uh we lost the game reguardless. We all know the diehards once ya talk to them for a few secs. GO SKINS!!!

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I wear my Redskins stuff all the time when I'm out here on Long Island, and I've been getting real dirty looks form all the Giant fans this week. Eff 'em. -Summo

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
There is a guy here at work that USED to be a Redskins fan, but dropped them when they started losing. Now, I don't remember alot of the details from games that happened 10 years ago...basically because alot of them I am trying to forget! However, I have been watching this team religiously since I was about 5 years old! When I was working in retail years ago, I would tape the game and watch it as soon as I had gotten home. Even if I heard the score prior to the game, I'd still watch the taped game. I believe when you stick with a team the way alot of us diehards have done, winning seasons such as this means so much more to us!

Dude, there are three things I'll never forget: 1. Being at RFK as a youngster for that '83 game. 2. My first time having sex:) 3. Being at RFK as a youngster for that '83 game. ************************************** PRICELESS |
Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
fairweather fans are what they are, fairweather nothing else.when the skies were cloudy the fairweather fans weren,t here until now.i like the fans who stick with their teams win lose or draw.i have a cowboy friend in my neighborhood and he understands the game and whats going on unlike other so called real fans of their teams.he,s like me i will pull for them no matter what so that makes me feel good knowing that aswell.
i was born a skins fan and i will die a skins fan. |
Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I've been a skins fan since birth ( I actually came home from the hospital in a skins onsie) and I was born in TX. My grandparents were fans and my family is from the DC area, so I was brainwashed very early. I didn't really start watching and understanding the game until I was 11. (I watched it all the time, but never followed players and such) and after the 91 season its been pretty much down hill, but my love for my team has done nothing but grown.
Having said that, I don't understand the fairweather mentality. I can't see how you can jump on board for one team without really jumping on board. Its kindof like a marrige... better or worse ordeal... and thats why I feel like the winning and the redemption is more for me than all of the people who only watch when we are winning. Its just a feeling, and I know it doesn't amount to much, but Its a good feeling and if we get into the playoffs or even if we don't this has been the best season I've seen since I serisously started watching football. (I was too young to really understand the game, and therefore apprecieate it when we won in 91). |
Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
I hate that shit now all you see is Redskin Jerseys and Caps everywhere.... Makes ya sick ..i usually challenge them when i can and ask them a skins question act like i am happy to see them... then make them look like a fool....

This guy at my office is from Virginia but hasn't been a skins fan since Gibbs' first run. He told me a few weeks ago he didn't believe that we could run the table and that he's not sold on the skins. Today he is emailing me articles about the Dallas and NY games, thinks we deserve to go to the playoffs, but still doesn't think we can win a playoff game on the road...... This is your classic "Wants to be on the Bandwagon but can't commit to it, even after our run....." Classic waffler..... |
Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW
railocon ask your friends in the skins gear if they know the answer to question #3 and you will know if they are really skins fans
