(Mega Merged Thread) Redskins-Dallas Game
Even with homefield advantage, I think the Redskins offense and defense will have trouble against the Cowboys. I've pretty optimistic about the Redskins lately, but I think we will have a tough time against Dallas.
On offense, we have limited weapons and the Cowboys have a very good defense. The Cowboys defense will focus first on stuffing Portis since we haven't made it a secret that the running game is "our bread and butter." The Cowboys defense will likely also focus on Moss since we have made it known that Moss is our only true threat at wideout and Patten and Thrash are injured. On defense, we might be missing out top three corners. Rogers injured one of his pectoral muscles. Walt Harris has a bum calf. Springs has a bad back and groin. If all three are out, that would leave Ade Jimoh as the only healthy corner currently on the team. Jimoh and the safeties would be facing Terry Glenn, Patrick Crayton, and Keyshawn Johnson. Subtract injured Joe Salave'a and LaVar Arrington and add Pro-Bowl tight-end Jason Witten to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster. Considering our injuries to our offense and defense, is anyone else nervous about the game? |
Dallas will get sweet revenge
Well guys Im sorry to tell you but Dallas will run, pass and tackle its way past the skins on sunday. There is to much at stake to lose to the deadskins and we have that miracle on monday night on our minds. Nothing will be sweeter than returning the favor in YOUR stadium and ending your playoff hopes, no matter how small they may be. Dont let the Larry Johnson performance fool you and think Dallas is now susceptable to the run because they played the pass trying to stop the run with only 7 men in the box against one of the best o-lines in football. We will stack the line vs Portis and dare Brunell to beat us and the old man just doesnt have it in him anymore. GO DALLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Ever since the Skins exposed the Cowboys secondary every team they played tried the same deep ball pass. Hell, KC ran the same play this past Sunday and scored a TD. The Cowboys usually stuff the line with R. Williams and if they do, I'm betting we toss the ball to Santana or Cooley. I mean, they can't take all our weapons out...and if Jacobs ever manages to get up for a game it just might be this one.
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
with all those injuries, its going to take creative playcalling, and creative use of ALL personnel.
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
God if there is ever a game that Jacobs needs to step up it is this one!!!
|
Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
Go Dallas? You almost lost to KC at home and you talk about coming to our house and win? Fig Newton will get eaten up all day and Rubber William will get stretched and burned again.
Skins with the W! |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
its gotta be guys you dont expect. Thrash, Royal, Sellers. Evans, Clemons, Bowen, maybe even Uhoh Jimoh..

Why would your deffense be worried about KC's passing attack? That just sounds stupid!!! Your team played against one of the best o-line and currently one of the NFL's rising RB's. What did the TUNA think that Larry Johnson and Co. were just going to have a bad day, so he wanted to stop the threat of E. Kinninson, S. Parker and D. Hall? Still makes no sense!!! Sorry that arugment does not hold water!! :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: :dallas: |
Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
talk is cheap...unlike Jerry Jones' facelift. We'll see ya after the game, chief. I'll bet you won't have the stones to come back after the game if you lose and talk your little puss ass trash. Regardless of what happens on Sunday, Dallas will always suck and so will thier uninformed, redneck, jackass, bandwagon jumping "fans". Go crawl back under the pile of dung from whence you came.

thanks for the memo. unfortunately, if you focus on just stopping portis, you'll end up getting hurt by moss. you can't key in on both, because we all know how good roy williams is in coverage. we might even use the ol' flea flicker on you, see how well the cowgirls respond to it. |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
We all know it'll be a stomach-turning, last minute nailbiter, in a 4 o'clock game in December at FedEx, Cowboys vs Redskins, Gibbs vs Parcells, with playoff implications. I just hope we have enough gas in the tank to come up big in the 4th quarter, when this game will be decided.
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
yeah we can't get tired in the fourth. I view this as an even matchup, and i feel like the difference will be the fans. if we can get loud, we can disrupt their offense, and motivate our defense.

I seem to remember something like that happening the last game. Hmm |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Injuries or not I'll be at the game screaming my head off everytime Dallas has the ball. 12th man will be in attendance! Dallas should be favored and on paper should win this game, but I'll go out on a limb and pick the Washington Redskins to keep their slim playoff hopes alive! GO SKINS and let's get REAL loud Sunday!!!
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Ramseyfan, I'm with you man. If we had all starting corners I would REALLY like our chances. But with the possibility of ALL of them being out, I don't feel as optimistic.
The again, barring EXTREME pain, I wouldn't think you could KEEP them out of this game. |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Considering the team is not looking at additional secondary, I have to believe at least a couple of the corners will be available. This game will come down to turnovers and a big play. Whichever team gets no turnovers and that one big play will take this game. I do think they are going to try and get someone we don't expect to be a big contributor who will be our Patrick Crayton from last year, hopefully jacobs does step up and can get over the top and becomes our surprise big play man. I think the players realize the importance of the game and will play through injuries unless they are hurting the team.
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
I want the Redskins to come out throwing. We need to put that defense on it's heels quick and change their gameplan.
Defense is where this gets tricky! Do we drop lots of people back to cover those receivers, or do we go after Bledsoe likes he's a 30 year old statue QB? Personally I'd bring pressure and hope to force mistakes rather than let our defensive line get pressure. |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Brunell has got to take advantage of Roy William's tendencies this week and abuse him. If he plays the run, check to a pass and if he blitzes, throw the quick hitter to Moss or Cooley. Anyone know if Thrash will be availabe to play? We really need him. He was big in Week 2.
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
I think Rogers will play, just sounds like a muscle strain. Springs I'm very worried about, though.
I think this is the week Gibbs bust out a trick play or two. Remember the 1992 playoffs, fake punt on a direct snap to Brian Mitchell? When it's a must-win game, that's when Gibbs starts pulling out the tricks. I think we're going to need to hit a big play like that to take this game. I think we'll have a mediocre running day. I think our O-Line will be really fired up, but so will the Dallas D. It's going to take a contribution from Taylor Jacobs, a trick play or a big special teams play, and solid play from Jimoh (we're going to need him, whether as a starter or as a nickel). Or we could just dominate the turnover battle. Let's go Sean Taylor, time to step up big boy! |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Taylor has definitely been laying the wood on some people. I agree about Rogers, I think he'll be able to play. I'll be on pins and needles until tomorrow when we see the injury report.

9 Washington 3884 298.8 1382 106.3 2502 192.5 246 18.9
10 Dallas 3909 300.7 1383 106.4 2526 194.3 233 17.9 Our defenses are basically identical in stats. Time to separate the men from the boys. |
Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
I am a little embarassed by this Cowboys fan who can't figure out how to post an icon that isn't a washington player.
BUt any way... I'll be here all week fellas, before and after the game. You all gave it to me pretty good, I felt like a pedophile in general population. BUT NOT THIS WEEK! We got ya this week. We comin...... |

Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
Yeah, I must admit all the Dallas fans that Ive seen on this site 5Rings has had some really great conversations about us. I love to get other fans opinions on their teams, I just wish I could be as respectful.
WE WANT DALLAS! I think one thing being underestimated this week is crowd noise. This is a huge game for the skins and everyone knows it. I expect this crowd to be absolutely nuts. It's been a long..... time coming. |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
I don't like seeing Moss again, but - exculding the KC game - both moss and Glenn disappeared a little bit. I thought it was cause they're small and maybe got a little banged up and worn down.
Can Wash rush the passer without arrington? Will Ware give your LT the jumps again? It seems as if Dallas is getting it's offense on track while Wash is not. Big D 27 Skins 13 |
Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
5Rings my hat is off to you. But the other guy spewing the crap about Larry Johnson, guess just doesn't realize the game plan Tuna had for KC. You guys won, barely but you won. Thats all that really counts.
|
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Arrington hasn't been much of a factor rushing the passer all year, he usually comes out on 3rd downs.
As for Ware, how many sacks did he have last time? Oh that's right, zero. |
Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
CRT3,
yeah we squeezed by there, BP knew that the KC offence was a bad matchup for us so he opened the playbook on offence and Hoped the D could get a turnover/stops when we needed them. That offence is All world. Washingtons offence........ We will look to win the time of possession battle here cause we know that your offence isn't exactly a quick strike type of deal. I think we concentrate on Portis and Moss and -I Hope! - put a spy on Brunell, so you gotta beat us with Cooley and Royal. (Is Cooley out? Sellars? Thrash too?Arrington? I know we got some injuries, but where are your role players on offence?) And we gotta stick Brown on ST. This team remembers that Monday night loss. Parcells will have them Jacked up. |

Yeah Ware seems to have hit a bit of a wall, but everyone still has to chip him with a RB or a FB/TE on passing downs. That takes one of your options out of the mix. I think we got to 'spy' Brunell at least in the 2nd half. |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
I worry about Daniels/Wynn on Pettitti/Tucker. They played pretty well the last game in Dallas. And our Tackles aren't getting any better. Bledsoe got sacked 4 times against KC. Another game like that and we are seeing the pride of Eastern Illinois Tony Romo yeah!!

We are evenly matched in every single category, both offensively and defensively. Dallas O 13, Washington O 14. Washington D 9, Dallas D 10. We have home field advantage. It comes down to turnovers.... once again. |

Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Haha. OK, noted.
I have a feeling this game is going to be full of halfback passes and overall crazy plays. |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
I am concerned about this game because dallas (while not an elite team like indy) is a bonafide playoff contender (unlike Ariz & SF). I just cant stop thinking that the skins just dont score enough points to win and even if the defense hold the boys to 17 points the redskins offense wont even score that many. The skins need to prove to me they can score and handle the better teams in the nfl before I'll feel like the skins will win this one.

I am not going to be the most rational guy this week. That is why I never bet on the Cowboys......
Rationality is out the door this week and nothing else would be expected. Realist step aside we are going to kick the shit out of the Cowboys. Screw this I am worried about this and matchups etc... Cowboys coming to our house and you say it is going to be close. Time to strap em up and send them home for the season and a early vacation in January. 27 is just delirious let alone rational. WE WANT DALLAS!! WE WANT DALLAS. Damn I love this week. |
Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
sup Rings. had to duck out for a while because i was on a big project at mtv, you might hear about it soon. haven't missed one play of one skins game tho, and what a time to get back. skins-girls in december for the playoffs...any close losses this seasons will be utterly forgotten when we can say we sweeped the cowboys.

This is funny. Untill the KC game the Cowboy boards said exactly the same thing. Dallas had an offence that sucked and couldn't score, and a Defense that was good and had to get turnovers for the offence to score. |

Brunell is gonna take some serious shots downfield this game, i know it. it's not going to be as chip here FG there as the past couple games. |

We have to watch out for that stuff again this week. We need something to shake up the Boys this week and a BIG HIT ON BLEDSOE!!! 2 TDs to Moss and a Partidge in a Pear Tree!!! |
