james or chad
I know we sign james thrash for wr depth and to play on special teams. But he can be a punt and kick returner. So who will be doing the punt and kick return james or chad morton
|
Chad Morton will defintley do kickoff returns. He had a pretty good year last year, even though he only busted one for a TD. He had a pretty good average overall though. I wouldnt be suprised if Thrash returns punts for us though.
|
Morton isn't as comfortable running punts as he is kickoffs, so Thrash might get that job. We'll put two back for kickoffs, and fake reverses evry other return. ;)

i noticed the same thing last year. he called for quite a few fair catches with no one nearby for atleast 6 or 7 yards sometimes. |
I think thrash will return punts, Chad has said that he feels more comfotable doing kickoff returns. So they will both be back there returning kicks. Perhaps doing the reverses?~?!!
|
I don't remember thrash really ever getting any significant time as a punt returner? from what I can remember he has alway's a kick returner, I think once chad get's comfortable he is much better suited for the punt return's, he has that real explosive first step, which is what you need on a punt return, much more so than kick return's.
|
thrash returned punts for the eagles before westbrook got the job didn't he?
|
i thought he did.He might have done it for us to.
|
Morton is definitely the KO man. I can't wait to see what JG has up his sleeve when it comes to Morton.
|
I wouldn't be surprised if Gibbs uses Morton a little like he used Joe Washington, a change of pace back/third down type back. Portis will be the man most of the time,
but I bet Morton is the first option off the bench. Also, Morton on kick offs, Thrash on punts. I am pretty sure Thrash was our PR for awhile. |

If Thrash is our main punt returner, that alone will justify his pickup (besides the vet leadership, intangibles, etc).
Both will be in on kickoffs. That's a great double threat. |
Had Morton gotten any sort of blocking on special team's plays he woulda had a Dante Hall type year. Ok, not quite, but a lot of times if they could have opened a small hole he would have had huge returns!
|

|
Chad. Definately Chad.
|
"Was it the Chad?!?!" "Yes, it was definitly the Chad"

I remember him returning something for us. That's basically how he got a roster spot, if I remember correctly. I can't remember if it was KO's or punts, though. |
Thrash has been primarily a kickoff returner throughout his career.
In 2000, his last year with the Skins, Thrash returned 10 punts for 106 yards and a long of 25 yards. That was his total as a punt returner with the Redskins. Last year, as an Eagle, he had 1 return for 2 yards. That was his lone punt return as an Eagle. Clearly, with 66 punt returns for 630 yards over his career, Morton is the more experienced punt returner between the two. |

I really don't care who returns punts, I just think it will be great to have both of them deep to return kick offs. Sweet double threat.

Anyone ever watch any Miami games last year. While it was nothing like when Santana Moss was here, who could score on like every return, there were still some cool plays. We always have a few players on teh team that run in the 4.2's to have as returners, but a few times last year they ran reverses to Taylor. Tayor just does it all.

if we drafted taylor i hope they wouldn't risk him getting hurt by playing on punt returns. |
It looks like Morton on punts, and both on KO's. That's gonna be quite a combo! Also, if we draft Taylor, I could see them putting him back there every once in a while, especially if one of the other guys gets injured. Remember how Gibbs would just put D. Green back there in clutch situations? I could see him doing that with Taylor...
|
Thats between 3-4 Million a year in our KRs. Is this doable?

ever since what happened to jason sehorn, i've been against any of our top defenders playing special teams. i didn't really want to see bailey playing offense either, even though he only lined up on the offensive side in what 2 games. |
