Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
This is going to be a tough game on a short week. I like our chances to compete and beat any team though anywhere especially after the upgrades and development I saw yesterday. If Love doesn't absolutely ball out, we can win this game. Need to protect the ball and stay with the run.

JD5 and this offense on a spotlight night will raise their level of play to match. It's going to be a good test for the rest of the season.

To short of a week for us to fix everything we didn’t do right in game one; so I expect a close Packers win.
Packers 24 Commanders 20 The Raiders in week 3; should feel our wrath. |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
You know, the Packers offense wasn't particularly prolific against the Lions, just efficient. Love had 188 yard through the air, and they had 78 yards rushing. We had 432 yards of offense (nearly even rushing and passing), and the D line for the Giants is better than the Lions D line.
If we can avoid turnovers and dumb penalties, we should be in this game and have a good chance to win. This is the kind of game that might be a bit of a litmus test for the season. Taking out the Packers at home on a short week would be an achievement, for sure. |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Will be a tough game for sure

Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Defense is gonna have to step up, offense keep its composure... ball security and eating up clock on the road will be key im sure. They've definitely got some weapons, fast ones too. Will be a good test for the D.
We have a shot, just like they do. Leggo |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
We were better than them last year, and we are better than them this year. JD gotta be a little more accurate and we have to clean up the clock management.

Snyder era PTSD is deeply affecting all of us. But no reason we can’t win this one.

Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Packers defense last week had 9 tackles for loss against a top offense in the Lions. Those guys were getting after it and obviously prepared, well coached. That stood out to me when going through the box score
Need to keep that defense off balance |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
No doubt a much tougher test this week.
|
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
If the defense looks anything like it did week 1 on Thursday night, my cuppeth will runneth over with kool-aid for the rest of the season.
The offense is going to score points, if that type defense is the new normal, we are going to be tough to beat. They bullied the shit out of the Giants up front. It was awesome. |

Need to keep that defense off balance
I'm happy we get them early in the year and off a game playing a talented defensive line in the Giants. These may be the best 2 pass rushing teams in the NFC or at least both really good. Should be a fun game. Love can be tough to predict. When he's on though he's one of the best. |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
One thing the Packers defense didn’t face is a mobile quarterback, so that’s a big deal. Goff was a statue back there
|
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Let's not get carried away by a week 1 win against a pathetic Giants team.
Green Bay are on a different level. We lose 17-24 |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
"Yeah they're good, but we're good too." - Quan Martin before the Lions divisional game back in January.
We can play with anybody. This one's a turnover battle game, just like that Lions one was. Team that wins the turnover differential is going to win this game. Need to chip on Parsons, he lines up across from Conerly. Need Deebo chips and Bates help. Keep him off of Jayden and I like Jayden to protect the ball better than Love. 27-23 Commanders |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
We just signed a punter to the PS (and released Cager). Hope this is just insurance and that Way is ok.

I think we do clean up the penalties and drops, it’s a close game at first but we pull away in the end

Skins 31 Pack 24
I want to see McLaurin go off in this game. It'd be the perfect game to validate his new contract going forward. You could tell he was frustrated JD5 missed him on a deep one going forward. Protect the ball and pound the rock. Great Thursday night game. |

Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
GAME. DAY. BABY!
I hope we show up on the short week. I hope we have game planned well and make Jordan Love look more like what I think he is which is a slightly above average Qb with potential to improve. I don't know why I don't fear GB the way a lot of ppl do.... sure they are an above average team but they have weaknesses. They can be beaten. I hope we are ready to show that tonight. Sloppy goiants game but sound overall - i hope we keep learning and growing through the season. A loss wont make me panic but... i really want a win tonight. |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Both teams have a short week so toss that out the window. This game I feel sets the tone to show last year was not a fluke. We play them tough and pull off a win. 27to21
|
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
This would be a huge win. I think everyone is pretty much expecting the Packers to win. JD5 and this team need to change that narrative.

Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Short week will favor the home team, at least a bit. I think the Packers are a very good team -- they had stretches last year where they were dominant (and others where they were solid but not spectacular), but they don't have a lot of obvious weaknesses. The pass rush is improved with Parsons (obviously) but Gary and Van Ness are quite good too, and they've got a very good back in Jacobs, good young WRs, and an above average O line. And they're well coached.
They beat the Lions with disciplined play -- they didn't rack up a ton of yards (Love threw for 188 and Jacobs ran for 66); their defense won that game with 4 sacks and holding a very good Detroit rushing attack to 46 yards (although getting out ahead early helped). If we can score some points early and negate the pass rush, like we did last week, this is a winnable game. But we will need to eliminate the dumb penalties and not turn the ball over. I hope they come out with a bit of a chip on their shoulders since everyone is picking GB to win. Would be a huge statement win. Fingers crossed. |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
They better give the rookie some help over on the right side. Don't leave him out there by himself against Parsons.

cant be as dense as the time the coaches left forbes against AJ Brown.................. right? Lol. I expect a lot of Bates in tonights game |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
I'm not going to make a prediction, but if we're going to pull off the win, it has to be a much more disciplined effort than what we saw last week, for sure. We had 12 penalties last week, GB had four. Gotta figure out a way to make that more equal if not in our favor.
For me, the key will be whether or not we can run the ball, and that includes JD. I think there's just too much to defend if we have some early success doing that. It could turn into a shootout - whoever has the ball last wins. I'd probably give the slight edge to GB just because it's a short week and they are at home and didn't have to travel. Should be a fun game! |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
i like our offense to shake off some rust and our defense to make it difficult on GB and for us to pull out the win

Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
It's hard not to sound dismissive of GB, but our team is built for GB and Philly. I don't understand the lopsided analyst picks at all, so I am hoping that it is the presumed bias of being on the road and a "old" washington team vs the young GB team.
I definitely expect to see JD5 magic at some point tonight. My best guess: Wash 34 GB 24 Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Much rather play in GB when the weather won't get below mid-50's than going later in the year when it is freezing balls.
Let's curdle their cheese. Go Redskins! |
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Loooks like Tress Way is good to go. They elevated the punter from th PS but just put him on the inactive list (CRod back there again too). I actually thought he'd be ahead of McNichols, but apparently not. McNichols did have 1 very nice run last week.
|
Re: Commanders @ Packers Game Week/Thread
Got to stop Micah Parsons and our D needs to get some sort of pass rush going.
