He will be playing for us this season more games than he doesn't, if assuming no future injury this season. |

Day One- Training Camp |
Re: Training Camp thread
Come on Adam make a deal. The Bungles signed their rookie hold out and are close to deal with Hendrickson. If they can find common ground; surely we can find common ground with Terry.

Re: Training Camp thread
Anyone see that pass (first pass of camp) from JD5 to Deebo? Yeesh -- that was basically undefendable. The kid had something like a 69% completion rate and said that this offseason was all about better footwork to improve his accuracy. Honestly, he reminds me of some of the true greats. I remember Walter Payton, after leading the league in rushing, would attack this massive hill in the offseason as he wanted power for even more yards after contact. Jerry Rice had workout regimens that none of his teammates could join. JD5's mindset is like that.

At LSU, Coach Brian Kelly had to go to the athletic director to get special access for JD5 to enter the athletic facility very early on a regular basis because he wanted to study film so badly. Kid is clearly extraordinarily motivated for greatness.

Re: Training Camp thread
Terry reported today. Is on pup list with ankle issue. So hold out to hold in. Well, that’s progress.

Saw the same thing but I expect Robinson continue to be #1 RB regardless in the beginning of the season. I imagine they will want to add Bill to the mix later in the season though. We should keep an eye on Tyler Owens, seems like he is going to get some playing time assuming he does well throughout the training camp. |
Re: Training Camp thread
If Terry doesn’t get a new deal and comes in on current contract; he’s gone next year. True, we could franchise him but I think the franchise amount for wr in 26; will
Be around 30-31. Team doesn’t want to pay even that??? I’d do a short 2 year extension and a bonus to boost this year; so averages are closer to what Terry wants. |

Sutton will be 30 years old later this year and is a proven reliable receiver, just like McLaurin. It doesn't bode well for McLaurin as he is looking for more than what Sutton just got. |
Re: Training Camp thread
Looks like Terry got activated off the PUP. So either a deal is close, or the team is ratcheting up the pressure on him to do more than just show up. I hope it is the former and not the latter.

They arent on the same level IMO, Sutton to me is a tier down, at least so that contract means nothing to me but who knows how it will impact negotiations. Heard earlier he wont take less than DK got... can't blame em. Hope it turns out well. |
Re: Training Camp thread
I expect Terry to get franchised at this point if Schefter's report is accurate of him wanting more than Metcalf 33 million plus annually. A trade only occurs if Peters gets a super offer. I don't think any team wants to pay him what he wants so I doubt a trade. Can't stand the hold in strategy. If he's trying to out duel Peters not going to happen.

Re: Training Camp thread
Metcalf is 3" taller and 2 years younger, and his deal (5/150) is really 3/86.5, ~29m/year. I think 27-30m is realistic; I think more is probably too much (31/32 is high, but I wouldn't complain). He's a top 16 WR, but I wouldn't say he's top 6.

He is wanting more than his production should pay compared to other receivers. His age isn't helping at this point. If he doesn't lower demands, I expect a trade or more than likely franchised.

Re: Training Camp thread
I think it's something of a counter argument that he's suffered with some pretty poor to average QB play since he was drafted but has averaged over 1000 yds per season in his 6 years. I'd say that performance in context is top 10 worthy. Yes, the current management were not here during 5 of those 6 years, so as a business it is always what have you done for me lately/are you likely to do in teh near future. But given his performance and standing with the team, they can't treat him like an also ran and expect him to be happy. If we don't pay him someone will and then we'll be the ones losing.

Re: Training Camp thread
If we don't pay him someone will and then we'll be the ones losing.
I don't see him getting the contract he wants from any team after another season or 2 considering he's likely going to be franchised. Almost unheard of for a wr to get a huge deal at 31 plus years of age.

Re: Training Camp thread
Some how the Bengal's are going to sign Trey Hendrickson before we sign Terry
Interesting.... Sigh |
Re: Training Camp thread
he's not getting traded. He's worth more here this year than the 3rd round pick you'd get. It's not like anyone else on the roster is ready to take his place.
he's made the argument that he's low mileage, but time takes us all. He can't will away the fact that, probably sooner than later, he's going to slow down a bit (and the margins in the NFL aren't big). AP hasn't shown a history of unwarranted stinginess, but he has shown discretion in big deals (bosa etc), so I'm assuming that the offer is reasonable. I do hope they figure it out. |

Peters will make the right move. Honestly think Terry is being too greedy. Surprised and disappointed about how this has unfolded. |

Who’s starting Friday? Marcus right? Doubt Jayden plays.
Rookies: Hearing really good stuff about Amos, Lane and Bill
Heard the first round pick a mixed bag
I was reading somewhere earlier that the switch from left to right has been difficult for him as he has never played on the right side before. It did say that he is starting to get more comfortable and his instincts that kept screwing his footwork up are starting to come around . . . add that to the fact he is a rookie learning the nfl too, and i think he'll be just fine, will take some time though. |
Rookies: Hearing really good stuff about Amos, Lane and Bill
Heard the first round pick a mixed bag
Amos and Bill have a legitimate chance at starting. Bill has more explosion than any other back on the team. Getting him in the 7th rd is even better. No clue what to expect from Lane. He's fast and can separate. If he can beat press and man coverage, he could be great. Looking forward to the game this weekend. |
Re: Training Camp thread
Not abnormal for an OL to have some issues the first camp out. It's different strength, different speed, and a position switch. I do think our 7th rounder will be playing real minutes this year, and very happy with what our DB situation appears to be right now (good).

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's what I read also. So excited about both of these guys. Loved both acquisitions as pass blocking is their strength. Giving JD5 more time to throw is going to be a problem for defenses especially when Terry gives in and comes back. HTTC! |
Re: Training Camp thread
And I'd like to see what it does for our running game too, which wilted a bit down the stretch.

Roster changes Monday https://www.hogshaven.com/washington-commanders-roster/228216/washington-commanders-make-8-roster-moves-after-preseason-opener
Bit of a pity Hampton didn't work out, but I suspect Medrano was possibly drafted as they suspected Hampton was a bust. Most of this is just bottom of the roster shuffling. |

Re: Training Camp thread
Does it feel like there is some energy missing from this camp? I feel like we need to pick it up a bit.
Could be the Terry effect, but there seems to be just lack a bounce from the reports I’m reading. I’ve heard defense has been better, but on offense…mild concerns: I’m not gonna talk Terry but his lack of presence is evident on the offense. Brandon Coleman injury sucks cause you got two new on the left side…need to get that synched. Behind Deebo, Zach, two old guys, not hearing a lot of buzz from the young guys catching the ball. Bill has gotten some hype, but not hearing a lot from the running game. I really wanted more in the backfield this offseason We mid point of camp, lotta time left for week 1 |
Re: Training Camp thread
I guess I can see where you are coming from, although I'm not necessarily concerned about this. As we all already know from the past experience, hype/excitement within the training camp rarely transition well on the field at game time.

Rumor we are shopping Brian Robinson. Reposted by Warren Sharp.
I have a hard time believing it, just not enough depth to move him imo Edit, Ben Standig also now reporting it |
