Re: How Dan Snyder views Commanders' title run from afar: 'He ... hates it'
It really is remarkable that they have been able to do in roughly two years what Dan was never able to do in nearly a quarter century.
Even the more amazing thing, to me, is that When Harris & Co. took over, it was obvious that a full re-build and house cleaning was in order, so I don't count the single season where lame-duck Ron Rivera was HC and everyone knew he was going to be gone. To me I really treat this as the FIRST year in a total rebuild mode -new HC, rookie QB, etc., and here they are one win away from the Superbowl, and all indications say that they are poised for multi-year success. It really goes to show you, IMO, that it all starts at the top and if a team has shit ownership, it's all going to trickle down. Looking at you David Tepper, Jerry Jones, etc.... |

Lol, Snyder isn’t a true fan of the team if he always chose himself over the team. He is just one of those few billionaires who think they are above everyone and everything else.

Re: How Dan Snyder views Commanders' title run from afar: 'He ... hates it'
I almost created a new thread for this one too. But he's such a piece of shit I went back and forth if he even deserved one. He is such an asshole, we are probably doing well at least partially because the universe is trying to get its revenge.
Even the 35-million-dollar house he tried to sell, he eventually only gave it away so he could right off the 18 million on his taxes. He tried to sell it way over value then went with the easy tax right-off instead. The only thing that shithead is a fan of is himself. AnonEmouse, I know eggs are expensive nowadays, but can you go find his yacht and pelt it with an 18-pack? I would be much obliged. |

Well, I'll be in London for a day next month, find his address? :)
Ironic, he 'said' he wanted to make the franchise successful, did all he could to avoid giving up the franchise and all along he never saw the way to do it was to sell it. Now, he can't abide the fact its a success. Napoleon complex or what. |

Dan was never a fan of the team. He was a fan of owning the team and that’s it. |
Re: How Dan Snyder views Commanders' title run from afar: 'He ... hates it'
He was probably a fan at some point. Not like us, but a casual fan...maybe?
He fell into some money and probably thought he would be a good owner. He was dead wrong. He was not only a bad owner, but a terrible person. Sometimes $$ changes people for the worse. I don't know what he was like before he bought the team, but DS is likely a prime example of that. But I have to be honest, if I had almost a billion dollars in the 90s, I probably would have tried to buy this team too. :) The team seems to be in good hands now though, thankfully! |
Re: How Dan Snyder views Commanders' title run from afar: 'He ... hates it'
It would be just my luck if he bought the Premier team that I like

Crazy how he was trying to tank the sale right up until the last minute. Sounds like we have saint Joe to thank.

More impressive than winning three Superbowls with three different quarterbacks ! |
Re: How Dan Snyder views Commanders' title run from afar: 'He ... hates it'
Really interesting to see just how fragile this sale was and just how close it came to falling apart. Wondering what those conversations were like between Gibbs, Snyder and his wife. You can tell that this was Dan's entire life and it got taken away from him. Now he's just a regular guy who seems bored with his life.

He has/ had to have talent to start a company with his sister and get to the level of success that enabled him to buy the Redskins. I have heard his company was built on a house of cards and the timing was right, but still, he had to have some smarts and an incredible work ethic. |

I'm not sure why he's walking around w/ security. |

Truly a trash human

I think I can safely speak for everybody here when I say that Dan Snyder can go fuck himself with a barbed wire bat.

I don’t understand the fuss. He says he hates the team being successful. He’s just consistent. He certainly seemed to hate success when he owned the team too.

No he did not enjoy failure, he was embarrassed by it.
I have been searching for this all season, I always wondered what this POS thought about all of this. Happy to see my hopes came true. I love how he ended it all still kicking and screaming which only proves how unhappy the sale had made him and I can't stop enjoying that. |
Re: How Dan Snyder views Commanders' title run from afar: 'He ... hates it'
I have always struggled to understand how he came to be a billionaire and supposedly successful when he can't understand the basic tenet of running a business; you can't do it all yourself. He seems unable to learns lessons. He continually hired puppet management and coaching and meddled and it always went wrong. How does that jibe with the person that made all that money to start with?

Because it’s possible to make a lot of money in our society being an asshole and control freak. You can get rich breaking a lot of shit along the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well, at least he can take solace that they still have the name he foisted on them.

This part I had never heard before, can you link to it or give me the TLDR (Too long didn't read) version? |
This part I had never heard before, can you link to it or give me the TLDR (Too long didn't read) version?
Right in the article I linked to at the start of this thread…
In the days leading up to the close, sources said, Dan and Tanya Snyder were pressed by confidants and friends, including Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs, the three-time Super Bowl winner who supported Snyder even during the darkest times, to complete the deal out of love for the team and fans. Associates reminded Snyder in those wee hours that the primary reason to sell was his family. The past few years of relentless revelations about bad behavior and questionable ethics, largely of Snyder's own doing, had taken a toll on his three children. Tanya reminded her husband that the sale would relieve their emotional distress. A confidant warned Snyder, "The only way your legacy gets worse is if you rip this back now." Quiet minutes passed. Tanya said, "Dan, I know this is hard. This was a dream." With that, Snyder relented. He gave the go-ahead to Jason Wright, then the Commanders' team president (he declined to comment for this story), to share the bank information so the Harris Group could wire the $6.05 billion. It was finally official: Harris and his fellow investors owned the Washington Commanders. The league had finally pushed out its most hated owner. The rally the next day at FedEx Field commenced as planned. Months later, Tad Brown, CEO of HBSE, told confidants, "We don't get the Commanders if not for Joe Gibbs.”
|
